Dr Karen Lord, born in 1968, is an award-winning author whose academic background in the sciences strongly influences her writing. She teaches sociological fiction, which often overlaps with speculative fiction, but uniquely grounds the protagonists in the history and community of their setting. Her debut novel “Redemption in Indigo” was nominated for the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel. She writes science fiction and crime fantasy novels.
