João is an Angolan–Portuguese film director, screenwriter and producer whose films have been awarded or selected at Berlin, Venice and Cannes film festivals. He is known for always making a feature and a short film pair. He was selected for Cinefondation at Cannes (2015) and awarded the prestigious DAAD artist–in–residence programme twice (2013 and 2018).
