Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin

Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin is one of Sudan's celebrated contemporary authors. Born in Eastern Sudan, he was forced into exile in 2011 under the previous military regime in Khartoum. Although many of his works were banned in Sudan for violating literary laws, they were widely circulated online among Sudanese readers of all ages.

Through the relationship between an Omani princess and her African eunuch slave, Sundus, Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin explores slavery, colonialism, power, and resistance in Zanzibar and the Western Indian Ocean.
