Lauri Kbuitsile

Lauri Kubuitsile is an award-winning writer based in Botswana whose work spans fiction for adults, young adults, and children. Her latest novel, The Scattering, is a work of historical fiction set during German colonial rule in South West Africa (present-day Namibia), exploring the Herero and Nama genocide alongside the Anglo-Boer War. The Scattering won the Best International Fiction Award at the 2017 Sharjah International Book Fair. Kubuitsile is also a two-time Golden Baobab Award winner and was shortlisted for the Caine Prize for African Writing.

The Scattering follows two women—one surviving the German genocide of the Herero people and the other trapped in a British concentration camp—as they navigate war, loss, and the fight to stay alive in colonial southern Africa.
